The 13-year war has inflicted immense suffering on Daraya, Damascus countryside, leaving its pre-war population of over 130,000 in a desperate struggle for basic health services. A prolonged siege and relentless bombardment have completely destroyed all hospitals and medical centers, creating a humanitarian catastrophe. A GHAWTH team’s visit revealed widespread destruction, including the severe damage and looting of the National Hospital. Without this vital facility, residents have no access to essential healthcare. Rebuilding the National Hospital is therefore an urgent priority, not only to save lives and improve health outcomes but also to encourage the return of displaced individuals and lay the groundwork for stability and recovery across Syria. Rebuilding communities and restoring hope necessitate immediate investment in vital services.
